    A Red5 server can run different chats and/or multiple RVC softwares at the same time.

    I need a video chat roulette solution that will pick random users from my local MySQL DB. I also need to run the service using Red5 rather than Adobe Stratus.

    I’m a PHP Developer.

    To do this, will I need to edit the Flash source, or will I be able to do all the customisation in PHP?

    Michael, with modifying login.php after your needs in version 5.1 it is possible. You log people in for a given amount of minutes, handled by login.php and a timer script. It doesn’t seem too complicated to achieve. You’ll need php/javascript knowledge.

    - a brand new, siple yet powerful GUI was designed for version 5.x
    - a new .mxml file was created with comment-separated sections
    - most style elements were removed from the .mxml and moved to separate CSS file
    - all .xml language files moved to “easier to edit” .ini files
    - most filters and settings moved to the new “Settings” tab
    - help tab created for including help.html
    - google map integration for helping map related development
    - admin(config.php) configurable blur was added to partner window to make chat more interesting and help avoid unwanted content
    - second “ban” button was added to help keeping the chat “clear”
    - partner window now viewable in full screen
    - added button to mute all system sounds, including buzZ!
    - “connected to” messages fixed
    - added user and partner info panels with basic information
    - connection-related settings were fine tuned to achieve better connection while using a database
    - multiple (reported) bugs fixed

    Nomad, there is no difference between the version, related to source code or performance. The differences are the future upgrades and remote installation. Stratus is free service, offered by Adobe (you just need to obtain a free Stratus Developer Key and insert it to the CRC config). Red5 is an open source (free) Flash Media Server that you need to install on your server (we don’t provide installation, but a comprehensive description on our forum: http://www.videosoftware.pro/forum/THREAD-Install-Red5-on-cPanel-WHM-CentOS-server ). We do install CRC and start it using Stratus and prepare it for Red5 (Red5 is installed and supported by the user). The modifications are done with Adobe® Flash® Builder™ 4 (formerly Adobe Flex® Builder™).

    Hello, I better understand the differences between the CRC offerings. I want to do the “Chatroulette Clone All-in-One” installation. However, I am confused about the advantages versus disadvantages of the different versions as it relates to Red5 and Stratus performance/usage? Do you support the installations of Stratus or Red5 in any manner? If not, are the changes to add “Stratus or Red5” preformed (by the end-user) after the “Chatroulette Clone All-in-One” installations is done? Last, are all script modifications done with Adobe Flex? Thanks.

    David, what are you trying to achieve is possible but you’ll have to change the source to handle different chat rooms. You will also need a more complex php backend instead of the sample back end and administration, we provide. The software is created that way so anybody can implement it into different kind of software and platform. You will need php and AFB / actionscript knowledge.

    Hi, I’m looking to use a chat module on a Joomla site that I am creating. We want to have a chatroulette type chat room, no video, just the profile images. We also want to be able to administer the chat rooms instead of letting users create their own rooms. Is this doable and if it is, is there a control panel for the chat rooms like Joomla uses? I would also like to be able to get someone on the phone if possible with the owner of the site and someone from chatroulette-clone.com.

    Carl Nixon, yes and no:
    If you purchase the license, you can use the script on different sub-domains (directories or domains). This will allow you to create separate chat-rooms that look the same (may have different logos etc.). By modifying the login screen (by adding a simple drop-down) you can send users after login to desired chatroom. Achieving this shouldn’t take more than a couple of hours.

    Is there a feature that will allow the user to set parameters for who they will get connected to?

    For instance if I was setting up a site for gamers, could I set up the software so the users could select to only chat with fans of shoot’em up games from the UK? (i.e. two parameters, game type and location)

    Hello, I had purchased your source code, and want to use Red5. But after I configed all settings with following you “install.txt”, it can not work. I had installed red 5 server. All demos in red 5 server can work except chatrouletteApp, and I am working in windows 7.

    Here is my red5-web_properties file:

    Harshal, we know about the “Leave button” bug and will be fixed in a next version. About the web cam broadcasting with 500-600 people, cannot say much without testing or maybe the server logs. Are you using Stratus or Red5? Please post this question to the forum so we can take a look.

    I have made change in app soo that only people with webcam can connect it works fine…

    But as number of people on site grow upto 500-600 webcam broadcasting doesnt work.. n people start to get blank screen.

    also Leave button doesnt work properly..

    florian, I cannot tell you how many conversations can be handled by 20 GB but as most VPS servers have 1-2 GB guaranteed (and 2-8 GB burst) RAM, 20 Gig should be more than enough.

    “Florian, if you are using Stratus, there is almost no bandwidth used. I cannot tell you exact data but here is a close guess: with an average of 300 users online (100-1000) the monthly bandwidth (including the database) will be between 5-10 GB. The disk usage should be <10 MB. If you decide to use Red5, the bandwidth will be around 5TB/month with 100-1000 users online and 2500-5000 visits/day. Note, this usage won’t be shown in your WHM (Admin Panel) since most of it will be used by the rtm"

    Yes that’s true on Red5 most of the people are connected whith camera off.

    PS : I think the Stop button do not work correctly when auto find next checkbox is checked.
