Adrien, http://www.jabbercam.com runs on Stratus at the moment (we switch between Stratus and Red5) and the default setting for the CRC 3.x releases is Red5, using our resources. To make sure you are testing the solution, you are looking for, please see the links below (you will see that most users are without cam on the Red5 version):

well no idea but i’ve noticed that when i go on jabbercam.com i can see some people with cam turned on, i can’t see them on my website (I don’t blame you provide free access to your server!!)

The second question: ads are shown when nobody is connected or the other party has his camera turned off (all time when there is no incoming video signal). I see you point here and this request was added to the wish-list.

I have two questions for you.
I’m using CRC 3.5, in my config file can i set $SERVER_TYPE = ‘Red5′; and $RED5_CONNECT_URL = ‘rtmp://www.jabbercam.com/ChatrouletteApp’; ? Because when i do that it says i’m connected to partner but no camera appear.
My second question is about “Ads”. It works fine but i would like to show Ads only if there is nobody connected.

Tim, the sample PHP back end can be extended to integrate with your existing user database or social network. It is not done to work with any social network or user database but it is a simple PHP script using a database. You can change it to use your own database instead of the included sample without problems.
We have a community database and we would like to offer tha chat only between our members!
Can we modify the script so that we can easily assign 2 Variables as nicknames instead of “YOU” and “PARTNER” ?

Andres, you can switch between Red5 and Stratus any time, it is just one setting in config.php. About the bit-rate I am not sure I understand where do you need bit-rate?
which bitrate do you recomment using stratus?

Florian, if you are using Stratus, there is almost no bandwidth used. I cannot tell you exact data but here is a close guess: with an average of 300 users online (100-1000) the monthly bandwidth (including the database) will be between 5-10 GB. The disk usage should be <10 MB. If you decide to use Red5, the bandwidth will be around 5TB/month with 100-1000 users online and 2500-5000 visits/day. Note, this usage won’t be shown in your WHM (Admin Panel) since most of it will be used by the rtmp.

Thank you so much for the last reply as I am now able to connect. I am getting an error though which says that it cannot connect to backend services. http: update error. I’ve created a database and I’ve supplied the right credentials to be able to access the mysql database….what gives????

I posted a question yesterday and I’ve yet to receive a reply. It’s imperative that I get some level of support on this as the site is not connecting to the server. Please let me know what information you need to make this happen.

Meaning, you are trying to connect to a Red5 resource that is not available. Start and test your Red5 resource or try turning Stratus on.

Mike, the minimum connection interval is set to 1 sec. It should be enabled after. This is part of the new features to use chatroulette as dating website.
Veera, how many users are you having online? Don’t forget the cache! Try testing with 2/3 different browsers from your PC.
your next button is disabled on jabbercam.com/nextversion.

How come my website always shows:

but Jabbercam always instantly connects? Is this because they use Red5 and I’m on Stratus? Or is it a hosting issue? I am using version 3.0. I have the hostgator baby package. Do you know if the speed of this server is fast enough? I am trying to get my site to connect instantly like Jabbercam. Please advise
Florian, you can see a demo version on http://www.jabbercam.com/ respective http://www.jabbercam.com/nextversion/ the software you’ll get is an exact copy of the one we send to JabberCam.

Is it possible to customize the flex project so people can connect as viewers only? I would like to be able to have 5 to 10 viewers plus the p2p instance. Also, does any of the session information get stored in the database? Is it possible to log or inject text in realtime into the chat? I would like to develop some interactive chat features for the p2p connection…the viewers would not have the ability to chat/comment.

Hello Erdene, Version 3 does support Red5. We just couldn’t include a comprehensive and bulletproof description on how to set up Red5 and the JDBC driver for a stable, hassle-free production website. The script is ready but Red5 is a new project before 1.0 and we don’t have sufficient information yet.

The administrator console with login/pass would be great! With these features:
1. Black IP list – IP addresses, who can’t enter chatroulette at all
2. System settings:
2.1 Minutes to ban a reported IP – for example, we set 300 minutes, and it means, that if the member gets 5 (for example) reports in 5 hour time, he will be banned. If he only gets 4 reports in 5 hour time, he doesn’t get banned.
yes, default is banned after 10 reports for 45 minutes (configurable) – need admin console for configuration
2.2. How many reports bans an IP – we set number of reports – admin console
2.3. A ban is removed after X minutes – we set time X
3. Is it possible to make a small window, that pops up, when user reports another user, so he can specify the reason for ban? For example – nakedness, masturbation, abusive behaviour etc.? So we could see why the user was banned.
Also it would be interesting to have some kind of user ban statistics – if the user gets banned every day for 5 times for masturbation, we could add his IP to black list and he wouldn’t be able to enter chat.

Finally I found the error! I did some searching in internet and I found a blog : judahfrangipane.com/blog/?p=87 what gave me some idea where to look for. The situation was that for testing purposes I use my Url with the directory and not the domain. Example: I used www .myhostingdomain.com/subdirectorywherechatrouletteclone instead of www .mydomainforchatroulette.com
