Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, JabberCam and Get the Source Code

  1. Unzip the release package. You will get two compressed folders and a README file
  2. Start Adobe Flex Builder (get it here) and import ChatRouletteClone.zip (File>>Import>>Flex Project)
  3. In the left panel (Flex Navigator) double click on ChatRouletteClone than /src
  4. Double click on ChatRouletteClone.mxml (you will see the .mxml source)
  5. Find the buttons you would like to delete and remove them
    If not familiar with .mxml, click on Design above the source you see, click the button you’re about to remove and press Delete
  6. File>>Save
  7. Export a new release build (File>>Export>>Release Build…)
  8. Open Your_Flex_Project_Folder/bin-release (where you saved your release build)
  9. Upload ChatRouletteClone.swf to your server
  10. Clear your Cache (Firefox: Tools>>Clear Recent History-Select Cache and press Clear)
  11. Reload your page and enjoy!

Changing the buttons

Follow the above instructions (1-4) and click on Design.
Select the button you wish to edit and click on Source, you will see the button selected:

Edit the link (and the image source if needed) than follow the instructions above (6-11).
To change the tooltip (mouse over text) edit your lang_en.xml

    Anari Sengbe, in versions 4.1+ simply find and edit the options for one of the custom filters in config.php. For versions prior to 4.0 edit both the config.php and /jabbercam/language/lang_en.xml file to change Boys/Girls to something else (you won’t need any special software to edit those files). In case you wish to do it differently, you’ll have to edit the source (however, the above will do it).

    I meant to say I’m looking to “Change” Girls/Boys as the two options to select when looking to chat with someone.

    I’m looking to chat Girls/Boys. This can’t just be a script for girls and boys, what if I want Chef’s and Cooks? or Quarterbacks/Running backs. There has to be a way for me to change this. I bought the $19 version 3.
